family holiday
Today is The Day Between Birthdays in my family...
Say happy belated birthday to Dad,
and happy early birthday to my brother Jens!
You see, back when my folks were living in Sweden, Dad asked Mom if she would be so kind as to cross her legs on November 26, seeing as how he'd rather not share his birthday with his firstborn.
Mom, being the obliging creature that she is, did a right proper job of hanging on to my older brother, and did not issue him forth until two days later.
So that leaves us with that day in between (which, now that we've moved to the States, quite often contains Thanksgiving) to catch our breath and not eat cake or pie for a day.
That is, until my cousin Eva was born - smack on The Day Between.
Happy birthday to one and all!

Happy birthdays, all.
By the way, I've made apricot jam without pectin (refering to a post by Jens), though also without the pits and not for years. The apricots we get in Seattle just don't seem jam worthy.
I used to can in a little <500 sq. ft apartment in Palo Alto on one of those old mini stoves with one of those classic rolling metal carts as my only counter.
